Places to Camp Around Long Island This June | Howard Hanna Coach Realtors

With warm weather and the longest days of the year, June is the perfect month for camping around Long Island. If roasting marshmallows over a fire, exploring the great outdoors, and immersing yourself in the area's natural beauty sounds like a good way to spend a weekend, our REALTORS® can recommend some amazing local campgrounds. Whether you enjoy tent camping or setting up your RV, here are some of Long Island's top camping destinations.

  • Heckscher State Park - 1 Heckscher State Parkway, East Islip, NY 11730
The 1,600-acre Heckscher State Park sits along the south shore and is a popular hub for all outdoor activities. Not only does this park have plenty of tent camping, but it's equipped with brand-new waterfront cottages that are perfect for a weekend rental. Take advantage of the park's large open fields, four paved trails, and easy bay access to enjoy your favorite water activities. It's much easier to plan a camping trip at Heckscher if you live in one of these gorgeous East Islip homes for sale nearby.

  • Blydenburgh County Park - Veteran's Memorial Highway, Smithtown, NY 11788
This stunning 627-acre park is located at the headwaters of the Nissequogue River. If you love hiking and beautiful scenery, you'll love camping at Blydenburgh County Park, which is equipped with both tent and RV camping sites. Dogs are welcome, and park amenities include camping, fishing, boating, kayaking, and more. What's even better is there are some beautiful Smithtown homes for sale a short drive away.

  • Cedar Point County Park - 5 Cedar Point Road, East Hampton, NY 11937
If you're looking for some excellent camping accommodations, Cedar Point CountyPark offers luxury safari-style platform tents that sit over Gardiners Bay. These tents have covered porches and queen beds, and they're just a short walk from shower-equipped bathrooms. The park itself has picnic areas, boat rentals, and plenty of trails, and it's conveniently located near Sag Harbor and Hampton Beaches.

  • Shinnecock East County Park - Meadow Lane, Southampton, NY 11968
Campers are permitted at this undeveloped barrier beach park that is a popular spot for fishing and water recreation. Shinnecock East County Park sits right on the Atlantic Ocean and offers 100 campsites for self-contained campers, but no tent camping. If you're looking for a beautiful outdoor escape, it doesn't get much better than this gorgeous park. The site can be accessed with off-road recreational vehicles, or there is a small parking lot for Green Key cardholders.

  • Battle Row Campground - 1 Claremont Road, Old Bethpage, NY 11804
This 44-acre campground is covered in dense woods and is an optimal place to relax. Battle Row Campground has 64 campsites—52 have water and electricity, and 12 are tent sites. The campground is also equipped with a comfort station, restrooms, and showers. When it comes to activities, visitors will enjoy swings, a recreational field, and plenty of beautiful scenery.
