Embrace Wintertime Fun at Long Island's Ice Skating Rinks | Coach Realtors

Ice skating is a popular pastime on Long Island, and the area has lots of public rinks where you can lace up your skates and glide across the ice. Each has public ice skating time, and many also offer lessons whether you're a beginner or an experienced skater. Our REALTORS® recommend embracing wintertime fun at these Long Island ice skating rinks.

  • Port Washington Skating Center - 70 Seaview Blvd., Port Washington, NY 11050
Port Washington Skating Center has public skating sessions available on Saturday through Wednesday. It costs $18, plus an additional $5 if you need to rent equipment and $10 if you need to rent a skate-helper device. Ice skating lessons are available, and the rink hosts private hockey lessons. The Center is located just around the corner from Port Washington homes for sale.

  • The Rinx at Harborfront Park - 101-A E. Broadway, Port Jefferson, NY 11777
For the unique setting of skating on the Harbor, head to The Rinx at Harborfront Park, located close to Port Jefferson homes for sale. The rink has public skating hours seven days a week, with weekday prices of $13 for adults, $11 for kids 11 and under, and $6 for seniors. Skate rentals are $7, and skating fees are slightly higher on Fridays, weekends, and school vacations. And if you're just learning to skate or would like to hone your skills, experienced instructors are available for all ages and skill levels. Learn to Skate classes cost $149 for six weeks of 30 minutes of group instruction weekly.

  • Grant Park Ice Rink - Broadway at Sheridan Avenue, Hewlett, NY 11557
Located near Hewlett homes for sale, the Grant Park Ice Rink is a popular attraction in the 35-acre park. Public skate sessions are held daily, with prices that are cheaper if you purchase a Leisure Pass. In addition, the park has a hill ideal for sledding and multiple playgrounds for preschoolers, kids aged four to eight, and one for kids nine to 12.

  • Clark Gillies Arena - 575 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills, NY 11746
    Clark Gillies Arena
provides a unique setting with two state-of-the-art full-sized indoor rinks in a building designed to look like an open, airy ski lodge. It's situated on 150 acres of parkland close to Dix Hills homes for sale. Public skating sessions are available seven days a week, with prices of $9 per adult, $7 per child, and $5 per senior with a recreation ID. Without an ID, prices are $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors. • Christopher Morley Skating Rink - 500 Searingtown Road, Roslyn, NY 11576
Part of the Nassau County park system, Christopher Morley Skating Rink is located in its namesake park. It's a popular place to skate and has been named the best outdoor rink on Long Island by News 12. And when you're there to enjoy some time on the rink, take time to visit the small writing cabin used by the famous writer and editor Christopher Morley. Known as the Knothole, it was moved to the park in 1966 and includes built-in bookshelves, a fireplace, a bunk bed, and even a one-piece, pre-assembled bathroom designed in 1936.
