Bike Trails - Long Island - Coach Realtors

One great way to enjoy the outdoors around Long Island is to seek out the local bike trails. Our REALTORS® have several great suggestions for enjoying the amenities in our area, which are a real asset to the Long Island lifestyle.

Here are six unique bike trails, located close to some of our Nassau County or Suffolk County homes for sale. Please note social distancing and mask requirements before biking the trails.

  1. Heckscher State Park- Heckscher Parkway Field 1, East Islip, NY 11730
Cycle the 4.5-mile flat trail for a panoramic view of Great South Bay. Watch for the nests of ospreys, a sea hawk, that tower over the park campground, and over the trail near Field 7. This 1600-acre former 19th-century estate also shelters white-tail deer and a variety of other birds. The park, originally opposed by local residents, represented public official Robert Moses's toughest fight to ensure the availability of public lands on Long Island. East Islip homes for sale are conveniently located near the trail and other amenities of Heckscher.

  2. Eisenhower Park - Merrick and Stewart Avenues, East MeadowNY 11554
This 930-acre oasis in Nassau County is one of the largest public spaces in the New York metro area. Larger than Central Park, it comprises property owned by Salisbury Country Club plus adjoining properties the county acquired. There's an easy, 5-mile loop trail, accessible all year round, near Meadowbrook Parkway. Check out Garden City homes for sale, just a few minutes away from the biking trails and everything else Eisenhower Park has to offer.

  3. Belmont Lake State Park - Southern State Parkway Exit 38, North Babylon, NY 11703
Located in Suffolk County, Belmont Lake State Park offers lots of activities, including picnicking, pedal boat and kayak rental, fishing, game courts, and also trails for walking and biking. Cyclists can enjoy a flat, easy 2.5-mile trail that runs through pretty woods, by a small waterfall, and over a stone bridge. Interested in Commack homes for sale? You won't be far from this picturesque park.

  4. Valley Stream State Park - Valley Stream State Park Road, Valley Stream, NY 11580
It's a short, rolling 2.7-mile loop trail around a lake, but you can pack a lunch, bike a bit, and choose one of the many picnic tables along the route in this shady park to set up the eats while the kids play. Picture yourself in one of our Hewlett homes for sale, where you'll be just minutes away from this gorgeous setting.

  5. Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve - 25 Lloyd Harbor Road, Huntington, NY 11743
Twenty-seven miles of trails traverse this flat to hilly park, a former estate on a Gold Coast peninsula that reaches into Long Island Sound. Caumsett comprises salt marsh, woodland, meadows and rock shoreline. Developed by Marshall Field III, the estate was acquired by New York State in the early '60s. In addition to biking, the park offers walking, bridle paths, hiking, nature trails and cross-country skiing. Have a look at Huntington homes for sale, and you could be in close proximity to this Long Island gem.

  6. Hempstead Lake State Park - Lakeside Drive, West Hempstead, NY 11552
The flat, easy, 2.4-mile trail winding around McDonald Pond isn't the only draw for this shady park. Enjoy boating, horseback riding, picnicking, playgrounds, playing fields, tennis, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, and fishing. There's also a historic merry-go-round. Imagine your family biking the trails around McDonald Pond, just minutes from Rockville Centre homes for sale.
