LONG ISLAND Memorial Day Events
Memorial Day – a time to pause and express our gratitude to the families of the men and women who bravely gave their lives for our county. There's no shortage of patriotism in New York so it's no surprise that Long Island plays host to many events throughout Memorial Day weekend. Join our REALTORS® at one of these five celebrations and get to know some of your Long Island neighbors.

  1. Long Beach Memorial Day Parade – Ohio Ave. & W. Beech St., Long Island, NY 11561 
    Take a drive just south of Rockville Centre homes for sale and watch the annual Long Beach Memorial Day Parade. County, city and state officials of New York will join members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion as they honor fallen soldiers who served in our armed forces. The parade will begin at 10 A.M., and the route will end in from of City Hall.
     
  2. Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach State Park – 1 Ocean Pkwy, Oyster Bay, NY 11793 
    The Bethpage Air Show returns to Jones Beach State Park this Memorial Day weekend. The official event will take place between 10 AM and 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday, but fans are encouraged to come out and view the practice on Friday as well. Watch as pilots from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Golden Knights, Embry Riddle and more take to the skies and perform amazing airborne tricks. This event is free so be sure to get there early before the beach fills up! To get to Jones Beach State Park from Garden City homes for sale, hop on the Meadowbrook State Parkway, and you'll be there in a flash.
     
  3. Montauk Memorial Day Flag Ceremony – 742 Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY 11954 
    For many families, Memorial Day is a bittersweet occasion. Though it does honor and celebrate those that have served, it's important to remember that this day also recognizes those who recently have given their lives while serving in the conflicts of the last few decades. Show your appreciation and support of their families by attending the Memorial Day Flag Ceremony at Montauk Village Green. Take the opportunity to meet your Long Island neighbors and view Suffolk County homes for sale during your drive.    

  4. Memorial Day in Prospect Park – 95 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215 
    Head a little west from the best Nassau County homes for sale and spend your Memorial Day at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. There are a ton of family-friendly activities scheduled throughout the day. Head to their Audubon Center for a nature adventure where you and your children will learn about plants and animals in the center's collection. Lefferts Historic House is the site for fun games that the whole family will enjoy. Running from 12 to 4 PM, Prospect Park is a fantastic place to spend the afternoon.
     
  5. Champions Memorial Day Challenge at Borella Fields – 650 Plainview Rd., Plainview, NY 11803 
    Spend the day enjoying the fresh air, and exciting sports action as Long Island Hot Stove Baseball hosts the Champions Events Memorial Day Challenge Tournament. The event is open to boys aged 8-18 and guarantees that all teams will play at least three full games. Winners will get a free bid to a future Champions event tournament.
