This has come a long way in the past 8 years and the quality of education and administration support is well know. Dr. Walsh the Principal is known for her outstanding parental support in keeping 'her Children' safe and in a strong learning environment. 'Go Memorial'

I have almost finished my 1st year of Memorial Junior High School and this is a good school. It has a lot of Extracurricular activities and has extra help so students can prepare for a test.

I attended Memorial for 1 year. During that year my thoughts on school were broadened. The teachers make learning a better experience and they take us seriously and counsel us. The school was like a second home for me.

The academic programs are very good but the students have to want an education. They are only going to get out of it whatever effort they are willing to put into it. Extra help is available for those that need it or want it. If a parent has a concern, the staff is more than happy to help. There are many extra curricular activities available but some overlap, at least the ones my child is interested in, so students feel pressured as to which ones to attend. Each teacher thinks his or her activity is the more important one. My child is in her last year here and I have nothing bad to say. I don t know for sure about the level of parent involvement, it seems to be high but I work and have another child in grammar school so my involvement is limited.

My son is going into his second year at this school and I have been very pleased. The school has a strong academic foundation and a college prep program. He has been introduced to a college campus and what it takes to get in. I have found the teachers to be dedicated and concerned with his core courses as well as his artistic ventures. He did very well at Nyssma due in part to his music teacher's hard work. The school is great and I look forward to another successful year.

Excellent School. Great music program that allow for new instrument learning or development each summer. The sports programs offer a great variety so that kids can choose. Administration and parents work well for the kids success.

I attended this school for two years and aside from a couple bad teachers I would say that I enjoyed the school the administration was fair to all of the students(despite race) unlike the high school I now attend in Florida

This school is a great school if you compare it to the NYC public schools. The teachers are giving the students a strong foundation The admistrative staff is mediocre.

My son is completing his first year at Memorial. So far he is doing well and I haven't encountered any of the negative situations I had been warned to expect. Like any other experience, Middle school is what you make of it.

Memorial JHS is a difficult place to work. After ten years I can say it has become nearly intolerable, mostly due to a very mediocre principal. She has lowered the moral of the teachers by such practives as using students against teachers. Several young, decent teachers who really tried were inexplicabley dismissed by her. Maybe they had a couple of difficult students and asked for help? Many students are exceptional, but the majority cause huge discipline problems, which the administration does not take charge of in the right way. The teacher is often blamed for situaitons beyond our control. The teachers are very caring, thus I would send my child to the school. The key is to study hard and stay involved in activities.

The schools admin and staff does a great job to keep and raise the level of expectation in our children
