As a new member to the Clear Stream Avenue School community, I just wanted to share how impressed I am with quality of education my child is receiving. The teachers, at least the ones I have had contact with, are thorough, hard working and knowledgeable. The administrators are extremely dedicated to the children and the children's personal and academic growth - I love that they know every child's name. Even the main office staff members are extremely helpful and patient. There are also excellent art and music programs, which were lacking in our previous school. We think this is a great school and we look forward to many years at Clear Stream Avenue!

My son has been in that school for the last 3 years and I am extremely satisfied with everything. From the principal to the teachers, the relationship with the parent and the attention given to the students is commendable. There is excellent monitoring and support in the academic area. It is a very pleasant learning environment. You really feel that the school makes your child's education its business. Everyone is very involved. I am truly heartbroken that he has to go somewhere else because we are moving. I highly recommend it!

Great School. However, lacks in extracurricular activities for students.

Clearstream avenue is a great school. The math and English language arts program, which have been the recent topic of discussion,is excellent in my opinion. My child has scored above average (4)on both test in the 4th grade and we are confident that she will perform as exceptionally well this year too.Lessons are offered in the arts as part of the curicculum. Remedial help is given to identified kids. Optional academic remediation clubs are offered but are highly under-utilized. Parent involvement has decreased over the years.Although the administrative staff seems to be constantly changing these days, the well-qualified teachers are the same teaching staff that taught our kids when District 30 was #1 in Valley Stream! Perhaps more parent involvement At Home will help raise our scores back to where they once were! PTA is very dedicated but could be a bit more resourceful.

Use of reform Math and ELA should be reviewed if test scores don't rebound. New (untested) principal leadership. Special education and intervention services are restricted due to a lack of resources, despite overall increases in school taxes in recent years. Extracurricular activities are lacking and parental involvement is strictly limited to cake sales and other fundraising events. Great opportunity for the PTA to step up its involvement to fill the breach, so to speak. Overall rating is good; could be great if the school received a equitable distribution of district resources and parents were more actively engaged by District!

Clear Stream has tremendous potential. More parental involvement is needed. Class size can be reduced. Children with special needs need more assistance. Most importantly, more attention must be paid to the curriculum and the children need text and work books. If these issues are addressed Clear Stream can possibly be the best school in Nassau County!
