Under the leadership of Principal Matthew Gaven, the Jackson Avenue School is truly a shining star elementary school in the Mineola School District. Both of my children attended Jackson Avenue and have benefited tremendously from their educational experience there. The teachers are highly dedicated and hard working. The principal and his staff are very accessible and helpful to each and every family whose child(ren) attends the school. The staff works hard to help each student to reach his/her highest potential. Each month we received a newsletter from the teachers in our child's grade telling us what they would cover in each subject and what to expect in the upcoming weeks. We would be alerted to ways in which we could assist and support our child. It has an active PTA, Site-Based Management Team and Student Council offering wonderful family and student events and an over the top Drama Program!

This has been my child's 1st year at Jackson Avenue & overall My daughter looks forward to attending school everyday. One Teacher in Particular Mrs.M.Bodson... I find her to be an amazing indivdual. She is highly skilled & works hard to bring out the very best in each child. Mrs. Bodson has always made herself available to each & every parent. She always makes you aware as to what is going on with your child & what is being taught in the class.

My son attends the school, and will be entering third grade. We have had a wonderful experience with teachers, helpers and overall faculty. All are very helpful and always willing to reach out to parents.
