I believe Paumanok is an awesome school! The Principal sets the wonderful tone of the building-which is warm and inviting. My children have some unbelievable teachers who are both caring and nurturing, and who take the time to make sure my child is learning. I am so glad my children will have such a strong educational foundation.

A wonderful school: caring teachers, great principal, involved parents, interesting curriculum. A great elementary school in a great school district.

My song goes to Paumanok. The school is great. The curriculum is challenging and staff provides personalized support to kids and parents. The school is very safe and has excellent esthetics.

This school is excellent, it is rated the best K-5 school in the district and it earns that rating. The principal gives great leadership and I am glad all 3 of my children will be attending this school.

Very cliquey and their isn't nearly enough communication with parents unless they are wanting money for the PTA. I'm disappointed with their lack of making new parents/students feel welcome. We loved our teacher last year. This year we are waiting to see how it goes but so far so good. I have to say only a 3 because I feel like I know so little about the school and what it offers because of the lack of involvement and info being given out. New playground is a huge plus!

The school targets children and uses suspensions as a means to an end. As working parents this does not help in school behavioral issues especially at the elementary level. There also seems to be lack of supervision for these young children and I agree there is not enough communication about classroom/school activities and the parents unless you can by part of the Click.

The equipment and facilities are old and run-down, esp. the outdoor play area, although to the school's credit they are addressing that w/the PTA's help. We've had one inexperienced and not great teacher, and one fantastic teacher so far. Parent communications need improvement - we get tons of sheets about PTA fundraisers, but no info about class activities like field trips or other events. Classroom participation is reserved to those who are 'in' - the school is very clique-y (esp. the PTA). On the plus side, the extra help programs for kids who need it are excellent. My child likes the school, but we all miss the outstanding programs from his former school.
