HSW was a great school. The teachers are great, always helpful, and I can honestly say I learned something in every class and they made it easy to pass the regents exams as long as you did the assignments. There are so many extracurricular activities and sports teams to be apart of which are a lot of fun and open you up to more students in the school. As for the overcrowding, there is no problem now. The school added on an extra 2 story wing and a new gym along with remodeling the bathrooms. Its a really nice school. Student body is very diverse. Parent involvement from my experience can range from low to high. In my experience, for the most part, the kids who were involved loved the school and the kids who weren't couldn't do anything but complain about it.

The school was great, the academic programs were phenomenol and the teachers were very concerned about the children's progress. After-school help was always offered and often taken up on. The AP program usually ensured that the kids got at least a 3 (and usually better) on the AP tests in May. The availability of music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities was also impressive. The school always had some sort of club meeting or two after class and there were many sports that the kids could join. The National Honor Society always boasted the top kids in the grades with involvement in club activities. Parental involvement ranged from low to very high, there were always many parents present during the parent-teacher conference. Teachers outlined what they were going to do for the kids that year and syllabus would be handed out in the beginning of the year.

Great teachers and staff. Above average admittance into colleges of choice, very unique research programs. Only downside is the rising drug use and pregnancy.

In general the teaching staff is impressive. There is also a wide selection of interesting classes to choose from. However certain protocol is rather ineffective or redundant. Depending upon the aptitude of a student and their intentions, the available facilities can either be a great benefit or a waste for students.

moderate to mediocre. The school WAS good, but has diminished as class size continues to grow and apathy amongst the teaching staff is prevalent. The studen body is diverse. The facilities are aging. There really isn't a 'strength' or 'weakness' to this school.
