Overall my experience at Elmont memorial high school was enjoyable and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Although every every now and again there was incidence personally in my life where I felt like I couldn't move on the teachers and staff in Elmont memorial high school help me to move on from my problems and got me involved in clubs such as Rho Kappa ,SAAD,High Honor Society, Science Honor Society ,Chamber Orchestra and more. My favorite part about being in Elmont memorial high school was senior year it was so many special events and sports games that a Jew is closer to gather before we park and enter A new chapter in our lives.

Elmont is unique in its sense of pride and spirit. As a cheerleader, the boys football and basketball games are always ones of great importance. Everyone in the town attends. The atmosphere is one of admiration for each other and gives off a sense of unity not just for the school, but for the community.

Overall Experience   2016-02-01
I've made many memories at this school and was glad they had such an impact on me. The different experiences of teachers, students, and clubs made going to this school a wonderful experience.

Overall Experience   2015-07-01
This school is great. The teachers are very hands on with the kids and they care. Teachers try their best to motivate their students and also push them to be independent. The school provides many activities, clubs, sports to choose from; and if your child is not interested in any of the activities they provide you are given an opportunity to start a new club or activity. There is extra academic help if its needed; and they make it flexible enough for students to choose morning or afternoon hours. There guidance counselors are amazing also. If your child is having issues they make is their business to see how they can help.

Elmont Memorial High School is the school of excellence. This school is nationally recognized and will hopefully continue to stay this way.

Overall Experience   2015-03-01
My experience was very good, received a lo of extra help when needed. My favorite experience is their float day and the participation of students, teachers and community members. Love the school and if given the chance I would go back.

Overall Experience   2013-11-01
My experience at Elmont Memorial High school was not only a learning experience but it was an enjoyable time. First entering in my first year i thought i was going to have the worst next few years of my life but as time went by I began to realize that I was attending a phenomenal school. The teachers are what i think make the school a unique place because most if not all of the teachers care about the well- being of each student and are willing to spend time before school, after school, and free periods to assure that all student comprehend the materials and can do their absolute best on all exams. My high school experience has been amazing never once have i felt upset or regret attending this school.

Of all my years in Elmont High School, no teacher has ever given me a hard time. These teachers are devoted to their job and but in some much time to help out their students. If a student is struggling in any of their classes, the teacher would have no problem assisting them.

Teachers   2014-11-01
The teachers account for my favorite attribute of this school. The teachers are all friendly and willing to help at all times. wheter it be their luch period, or hall patrol, or during their free periods. I could not as for a better teaching staff

Teachers   2013-11-01
Elmont teachers are some of the best in the nation. They are willing to help student with education or even just be a friend to any student who may need guidance from someone. They use many teacher methods and get amazing results each and every year. No Elmont teacher just slides by they know the subject they teach like the back of their hand and keep grading policies constant from student to student. Keeping each child's best interest in mind one can get that the teacher generally cares about their success

Teachers   2013-08-01
I have mostly honors teachers but they honestly want us to have an advantage in out future.

Academics   2016-01-01
The teachers make it a priority for the students of Elmont to receive the best education. Teachers have early morning and afterschool tutoring sessions for those individuals in need of help. For the members apart of honor societies, it is their duty to tutor students during their free periods, after school or in the morning.

Academics   2015-02-01

Academics and teachers at Elmont Memorial is amazing and very helpful, not just for the students but for the parents as well.

Academics   2013-11-01
the teachers are amazing there willing to help you in any way they can.Even if it's not the subject they teach. They like to challenge students. If you need them to stay after school or come in the morning they'll be there. The curriculum is great you can learn a lot . You even learn about money . Certain classes we have our parents wish they had when they were younger.

Academics   2013-07-01
This school offers a variety of classes from general to AP courses to business electives and art classes. There are classes that fit the likings of the students. The work load is not unbearable although the AP class curriculum needs a lot of attention and time.

Academics   2013-10-01
There is a great variety of classes. Like the clubs and sports, you will always find something to fit you.

Academics   2013-08-01

Academics   2013-03-01
The teachers at the school are very hardworking and are always willing to help out students if they need extra help. There are a large variety of classes offered here as well as AP and most recently a college english course. THe workliad is decent. Sometimes it may get to be alot but you just have to know how to manage it. The school offers morning and afternoon help as well as review classes.

Educational Outcomes   2015-02-01
Exceptional school with exceptional teachers!

Educational Outcomes   2013-08-01
With the tools I've been given at Elmont, I'm confident i will succeed in college.

Educational Outcomes   2013-07-01
The guidance counselors took out their time to make sure that what we wanted was what we were going after. They helped laid out or options and helped us choose from the best. The teachers also prepared us for college writing and how to be on our own without depending on anyone.

Educational Outcomes   2014-06-01
this school provided many students with the tools needed to survive the real world. the guidance counselors and teachers worked the students in picking colleges that fit best. the teachers were very well versed in their area of studies, which attributed to many students receiving high scores on their class and AP exams. some teachers even worked in college topics for everyone so that students could get a glimpse on the dedication needed for college

Educational Outcomes   2014-04-01
Teachers spent countless time talking about the real world

Academics   2013-08-01
We have a lot of options when it comes to art, music, and theatre

Teachers   2013-11-01
Teachers go above and beyond and do more than their job which I commend them greatly for. The students on the other hand could try harder to better themselves.

Academics   2013-03-01
The school offers a variety of classes from special Ed to Advanced Placement classes. Students are also given a broad range of elective courses to choose from in areas of computers, automotive, music, and sciences. Some courses require you take a course beforehand to gauge whether not you can handle the material being taught in the class

Academics   2013-07-01
The academics at Elmont memorial high school is very is offered to everyone equally being on what you can do and what you+re passionate for. College credit course such as graphic designs which I am a part of was offered to kids equally and who is very passionate about can take on this class apart of their academics as well as for the teachers who conduct the classes are very much helpful being that their open to suggestions and students are willing and wants to go beyond the teaching experience. The curriculum is based upon standards from easy to challenging and the testing of each individual student on what they can do. The scheduling for success based on this is worked throughout the scheduling based on the viability of the student and teacher which is very convenient because of the morning and afternoon extra help. The work given by teachers are very reasonable being that its homework and it prepares you for the higher grade, test or even college and this being can be useful to parents because it gives them a sense that their child is doing something to come closer to passing and studying.

Academics   2013-07-01
Plenty of AP & advanced classes. Many cool teachers

Academics   2013-05-01
The academics offered are amazing, just like the teachers. Every student has an equal oppertunity to excel.

Academics   2013-04-01
The teachers really care. They provide honors classes and AP classes. Teachers push students to their full potential and encourage them to do greater things.

Overall Experience   2016-09-01
I am very well please with Elmont memorial HS. My son came from Eagle Academy with a low average. Thanks to all of the teachers and his Guidance Ms.Saulters who stayed on my son academic as well helped him to the level he is on now. Elmont HS is all about academics and strive to stay the best for each student. They want the best for the students and aim very high to keep the school in good standard.

Academics   2014-04-01
They prepare you for the regents

Academics   2014-02-01
Teachers assist the students in attaining their maximum potential and ability to reach their goals. Certain topics that may seem difficult, the teacher tries to simplify it to the best of their ability. They also include one on one sessions so that particular student(s) can succed. The workload isn't that much and they don't assign too much homework at once.

Teachers   2013-07-01
The teachers are most exceptional and many are very down to earth. Many teachers, like science, impart their knowledge in a fun way, applying to everday life, which makes it easy to learn. Many teachers also find different methods and material in order for their students to succeed. Teachers remain after school or even attend school very early on mornings to assist students to pass crucial exams.

Overall Experience   2015-04-01
Made great friends. Met great people. Love it

Teachers   2014-02-01
Most of the teachers care about the students

Teachers   2014-02-01
The teachers are very approachable and they are very easy to talk to. They create times outside of the school day to assist you in any way possible. They don't like to see their students fail and they have great personalities.

Teachers   2014-05-01
Some teachers just teach what they need to and then the rest is up to you whether or not you want to learn.

Teachers   2015-01-01
The teachers are very nice and respectful. They try their best to ensure the students understand every topic, and have extra help before or after school if they don't.

Teachers   2014-10-01
I had the privilege to learn from teachers who truly cared if their students understand the material. I do feel that they lack real world examples to help their students prepare for the future.

Teachers   2014-09-01
The teachers at Elmont are a great individuals. It is not just a job to them but they genuinely care about the students and if they understand the work. There is Operation Success for students who struggle in the core subjects, where teachers come in before school or stay after to school and help students to the best of their abilities.

Teachers   2015-03-01
In my school, most of the teachers put "110%" in their work. you will also find teachers that care only if the student cares. you won't find a lot of lazy teachers maybe 1 out of 5 teachers. those teachers are the one that give you packets to do everyday and they don't stand up in front of the class to teach.

Teachers   2015-03-01
Caring, helpful an available to assist when needed. All my teachers were knowledgeable and well prepared for all the classes they taught. Communication was very well and they were consistent with their grades.

Teachers   2015-04-01
The teachers really put alot of effort into providing the students with the necessary education that they need. Most of the teachers put in more effort than necessary to ensure that the students understand the material that is being taught. Teachers are always available before and after school and most of them offer their free periods.

Teachers   2016-04-01
There are a handful of teachers almost every student has at least one year in attendance that go above and beyond with their learning practices inside the classroom. They are the ones who make students believe in learning again and do not discourage students with their aspirations for wanting more for themselves.

Teachers   2016-03-01
The teachers are very helpful when you need them. Teachers spend a lot of their free time helping student's and are almost always available.

Teachers   2016-02-01
My experience with the teachers has shown me that they are here to help me. As long as you aren't too timid to ask for their help, they will gladly answer any questions you may have. I have requested help from teachers and they have been nothing but helpful. I really appreciate the effort they put into their classes and their students.

Teachers   2016-02-01
Most teachers have great and effective teaching styles and are easy to understand.

Teachers   2016-01-01
The teachers are great people. They truly work their hardest to make sure students are comfortable and happy to be learning.

Teachers   2015-12-01
The teachers are great, and passionate about what they are doing.

Teachers   2016-07-01
For the most part teachers and staffwe're really good to the students. Based on my experience in Elmont Memorial high school most teachers put their best foot forward in order to give the student a better education compared to the other schools in the district we were the most culturally diverse because we consider the most African American teenagers attending the school and due to this the cultural assimilation was real an we're really good to the students. Based on my experience in Elmont memorial high school most teachers put their best foot forward in order to give the student a better education compared to the other schools in the district we were the most culturally diverse because we consisted of the most African American teenagers attending the school and due to this cultural interaction was very prominent within the high school. Teachers at one point were denied money from the district if they stayed after school and yet they still stayed in order to help struggling students who wanted to academically better themselves. With a 99% graduation rate I can see why Elmont has been so successful it's not only the effort of the student but the dedication of the teachers.

Teachers   2016-07-01
They are knowledgeable teachers willing to help students better achieve their goals and to progress as professionals beyond their high school years.

Teachers   2016-06-01
The majority of the teachers that I encountered on a daily basis were very organized, respectful, and approachable. They made the lessons more engaging by seeking student inputs and theories on certain events or processes. My anatomy teacher in particular would ask us how we thought certain metabolic activities or movements were carried out, to see if any of us knew or could guess, before explaining it. In this way, students were able to develop critical thinking skills, as well as, book knowledge. Our history teachers would also engage us in a similar manner. History is typically a boring subject with a load of memorization and not much practical application, i.e. the class most students would be most likely to fall asleep in. However, amongst the vast plethora of information, the teacher would explain the critical shifts lead up to an event. In this way history seemed to have a direct flow of cause and effect, as opposed to each event being separate and unrelated. The foreign language teachers were great as well. I had this one teacher in particular, who recognized the shifts in translation that most students faced when learning an new language. For example, if one wanted to state the name of an object in French, they would first have to seen the object, recognize what it is, and associate it with the appropriate term from their home language, then translate that over to French. She brilliantly came up with a way to remove that act of mental translation, by getting us to associate the word with an image or an action, rather than another word. The math and english teachers were a huge help as well. Students who had problems with either subject could walk into the respective office and find help whether or not their assigned teacher was there. If another teacher had free time and knew the answer to the students problem the would explain it to them. The business office as well.

Teachers   2016-05-01
I think most of the teachers at my school try their hardest to teach my peers and make sure that we are trying out hardest to past our studies.

Student Culture & Diversity   2013-11-01
Elmont Memorial High Schools student culture and diversity has a positive impact on the school. Student of all races religions and social backgrounds can get along with and not feel threatened by one another. Its easy to feel accepted here because the school provides us with a environment where you cant help but feel welcomed. The student are mostly focused on getting their education making that their top priority and with the help of amazing teachers and counselors the students help keep the graduation rate at about 98%.

Student Culture & Diversity   2013-03-01
The diversity here is great, no one is left out and everyone is given an opportunity to fit in. The teachers are great ! They encourage you to do better than what you may be showing and work with you step by step to ensure you graduate. Like any other school peer pressure and bullying is everywhere but you rarely see it hear, although there isn't a problem staff still speaks on the issue. I believe anyone can achieve greatness at elmont memorial high school.

Student Culture & Diversity   2013-03-01
This school is just like any other school. You'll find kids being pressured to commit immoral acts and administrators and occasionally students trying to prevent such actions from occurring. Elmont doesn't discriminate its student's because of their ethnic or racial background or sexual orientation. Overall the school is very diverse and acknowledges all cultures

Overall Experience   2013-07-01
Elmont Memorial School is supportive and culturally diverse, and I love attending this institution, instead of any other. My friends come from different backgrounds; some are East Indians, Hispanics, African Americans, and other blends. The administration team (counselors) and teachers, like science, are also supportive and of great encouragement to help all students succeed. The clubs are many and there are great opportunies to fufill ones career goals. When I was once faced with a bullying experience, the school administration dealth with the situation swiftly and professionally. I love Elmont.

Overall Experience   2013-03-01
I like my school I have definitely learned a lot of life lessons from going to school. I have met a few people for the school I love the fact that it has a lot of clubs and activities that one can join and it is also located in a very safe environment. I think it's great that my brother is going to attend the school next year.

Overall Experience   2013-10-01
School has exponentially gotten better the older I got.

Overall Experience   2013-12-01
My experiences in this school have all been mainly positive. Sports, academics, teachers, and staff everyone has been great supporters of my pursuits, and anyone that I asked would without a question write a letter of recommendation for me if I requested.

Overall Experience   2013-11-01
I honestly would love to go to this school all over again because the opportunities that are available are simply amazing. The hard work of the staff is a blessing because they go above and beyond in all they do .Regardless of the level of disrespect some of the student show. Even to security guards and custodians; they forget who keeps the floor clean and protects them.

Overall Experience   2013-11-01
I went to a catholic school in ninth grade and i didn't like it so after freshman year i went to Elmont Memorial and im enjoying my time here

Overall Experience   2014-03-01
My experience at this school since 2009 has been quite interesting. The school spirit is contagious and everyone is very supportive during competitions, games and meets. I loved attending pep rally and games because I felt involved. Even if I didn't understand what was going on, I still cheered on with my peers! During the school day, teachers, guidance counselors and the administration are very helpful and supportive and they are there for you when you need them. This school also offers many different courses that can help you choose and focus on the career you want to pursue. They also help you get ready for college during your senior year. After school, there are an abundance of extra curricular activities for us to join. Elmont Memorial HIgh School may not be diverse in race but we are very diverse in personality.

Overall Experience   2014-02-01
The school is not that bad thanks to the teachers if I was given a chance to go to school there once again I would go because the faculty members know what their doing.

Overall Experience   2014-06-01
i would choose this school all over again if I could. The curriculum provided all the students with activities that they all could excel in. Students were segregated by their grades; everyone were friends with everyone. Policies made it so that violence would not be tolerated and punishment were severe. They also cracked down on bullying so that everyone was treated with the respect and had the protection they needed to grow. This led to a safe environment for everyone The staff were very involved with the students. Each student found a good friend in of the members of the faculty. i have some of the best memories at this school

Overall Experience   2015-03-01
The thing that makes this school unique is that we're nationally recognize school of excellence, all the students pass their regents highest in the nation

Overall Experience   2015-07-01
I personally had a great experience at Elmont Memorial High School. Since I first attended the school in 7th grade, I was placed in advanced classes and the friends I made followed me throughout my years there. My overall graduating class was however very separated with students that had been in advanced placement and regular classes. This I feel took away from my overall experience at Elmont. However there were many fantastic aspects of Elmont. Such as the teachers and their dedication to the students. They care so much about the student body and offered extra help if needed. There was also plenty of extracurricular activities to make students a part of the school such as chefs club, select choir, jazz band, and plenty more.

Overall Experience   2015-07-01
The education was great, but I could have done without the people.

Overall Experience   2015-07-01
I loved attending Elmont. I think its like any other school in that there are kids who dont really focus, but for every one of those kids there are 50 hard working, down to earth kids.

Overall Experience   2015-06-01
My high school was great. Like every school, it needs its improvements, but most teachers were greatly invested in making sure students succeeded, which is the most important part

Overall Experience   2015-08-01
I love this school. It's full opportunities and teachers are always willing to help students. I would choose this school again because the faculty is always there to encourage and help you along.

Overall Experience   2016-04-01
My father passed away the summer after 10th grade. Since then it has been extremely hard to prove I can finish strong. Senior year started and I felt lost without him. My friends and family have definitely help me through high school.

Overall Experience   2016-03-01
There were many memories, some good and some bad. The Good memories are the friendship that was built, school events Drama club, games, ect... experience with friends. The school is known for there caring staff, team spirit and student activities.

Overall Experience   2016-07-01
I like how the school is able to bridge together several cultures into a classroom, all learning a similar lesson. Unlike most schools the diversity of students attending this school is varied and it allows for students to learn more about each other. Furthermore, the ability of teachers to be so engaged in the students' academic lives provides for the high rate of graduation and acceptance into great colleges.

Overall Experience   2016-06-01
My overall experience at Elmont Memorial High School may not have been exactly what I envisioned. It's far from the perfect place to spend six years of my life, but then again what high school is. The teachers were wonderful. They put in so much effort and allotted at least an hour every two weeks, though typically more, to help those who were struggling or wanted to do better than they already were. Some of my most memorable experiences were the educational trip to the Museum of Natural History and the school plays. Our musicals are pretty famous, at least in the town, but I love our dramas. They were so well thought out and the acting was really great too. Though for some reason we always seemed to have a problem with the mics, so you couldn't really hear anything if you weren't close to the stage. We never really had much of a budget either, it was whatever we made from the last play, but it was fun. Some of the best memories of my high school years were created making sets in stage crew.

Overall Experience   2016-01-01
The school is great. Basketball and football games are very fun and interesting. The senior and junior events are amazing as well.

Overall Experience   2015-12-01
It's a normal high school experience.

Overall Experience   2015-12-01
My overall experience at this school was a thing too remember with all the ups and down Elmont has made the person I am today, I wouldn't go to any other school if i had the chance too re do it again

Overall Experience   2015-11-01
What makes this school unique is that it gives you a lot of room to grow , they aren't harsh on you , they are willing to listen without judging using stereotype. What you do in Elmont represents Elmont and there are bad kids that make themselves stand out the most however that is not the school of excellence as a whole .

Overall Experience   2015-11-01
Great teachers and school staff! They want you to succeed, they care for the students.

Overall Experience   2015-10-01
This school is okay but it's not the best. Some of the teachers act as if they don't want to be there but a lot of them are not like that and are nice.

Overall Experience   2015-10-01
Elmont Memorial High school provided me with tremendous opportunities and did everything in their power conceivable to help me get prepared for the challenges that would await for me in the future. I will sincerely iss the school because they have a professional staff, a class-first system of learning and much more.

Overall Experience   2015-10-01
Overall they are some really great teachers and it's an experience you'll never forget but sometimes students or specific teachers will attempt to drag you done in the process making the experience very mixed

Overall Experience   2016-05-01
Through out my junior/high school years I can say that its not always great but there are many fun moments. Things started to get better for me in 9th grade because I started to make more friends and attending more events like parties. I think tenth grade was the most dull year because there wasn't really any school events for just the tenth graders. As a senior I can say that Elmont is improving more over the years to enhance our education.

Overall Experience   2016-04-01
I feel that Elmont Memorial High School has impacted the person that I am today. When I originally started going to Elmont back in 2011, I was 11 years old. I was very stubborn and immature. Over the years I feel that I've grown mentally as a person and spiritually.

Overall Experience   2016-03-01
The parents at sporting and musical events are very outgoing and helpful. These parents make you feel welcome and at home, however most parent only look out for their child and sometime not even their own child with the best interest.

Overall Experience   2015-08-01
One of the best things about this school is their assistance. Their willingness to help new student get adjusted to their new environment, routines and learning styles. Both the staff and the students appear sincere in helping a new student succeed. The class sizes are small enough to have individual attention if needed.

Overall Experience   2016-02-01
At school, the pep rally is great and seeing proposals for prom is very exciting.

Overall Experience   2015-04-01
My favorite experiences at this school would be all the school events. The school spirit is contagious and hard to ignore. Even if our home team is losing, they remain optimistic. This school is unique because of their hardworking students, dedicated teachers and administration that are constantly giving us words of encouragement.

Overall Experience   2014-02-01
Its a good experience to have

Overall Experience   2014-04-01
I like this school because most of the teachers actually care about your grades and are available if you need help and some do offer extra credit. I like the school spirit that the students have. I would choose this school again because of the education and the helpful teachers.

Overall Experience   2013-09-01
There are plenty of opportunities in this school, you just have to go out and find them because no one hands them to you. We do much better than schools with a racial makeup (the school is mostly black and hispanic) because the teachers care.

Overall Experience   2013-11-01
High school isn't everyones favorite place. Elmont memorial high has been my source of education for the past 3 years and to say the least, i have enjoyed my time in that building. my faculty and staff are friendly and relatable and they make it some what easy for students to receive assistance when they need it. Although the facilities are not always greatest, the school wouldn't be the same, without a few malfunctioning smart boards, or the notorious dirty bathrooms.

Overall Experience   2013-03-01
My daughter likes her school for the most part. Because it's a jr/sr high school, she has seen some negative changes over the course of the past two years, and she feels that the varsity track coach devotes more of his time and energy to the boys team than he does the girls team (which she is a part of). Overall, she's fine with staying there until graduation because she is in several advanced classes that challenge her, however, she would be happy to move to another school if it were possible.

Student Culture & Diversity   2014-04-01
Most students are involved. I don't think students discriminate based on sexual orientation, religious views nor ethnic/racial diversity in this school. they might but I haven't witnessed any discrimination.

I feel like at Elmont it is what you make it . If you choose to be social able you make friends if not you hate it there .

Student Culture & Diversity   2014-03-01
Students at Elmont Memorial High School are no doubt different from students at other schools. We are a predominantly black school with more than half of the students from a Caribbean background. But that doesn't have much affect on our social skills as a whole. Many of the students blend and mix with other nationalities. Peer pressure is an issue but its not an issue that can't be handled at my school. Students of different sexual orientations and backgrounds are naturally accepted into the social crowd. Bullying is also an issue but it is not tolerated. Many bullies face severe consequences so bullying is not a constant occurrence.

Student Culture & Diversity   2014-03-01
based on our community it was barely diverse

Student Culture & Diversity   2013-12-01
The social environment is quite average, similar to any other school. If you befriend the right people, there should be no issue.

Overall Experience   2013-05-01
I think my school is pretty good. The faculty and staff care about each student and each person seems to have good intentions for us. The students here are okay, there are many high school stereotypes (cool kids, nerds, and etc.) when it comes to the social groups. The sport games at times are fun and exciting (especially the basketball games). There are quite a few clubs at my school that many people, maybe at least half of each grade of students join. If I could go back in time I would definitely change a few things, things I've found as missed opportunities. But for the most part I like(d) my time here at Elmont.

Overall Experience   2013-08-01
I like the classes but the students make it hard. I constantly get picked on and people rather talk and fool around than let me and the teacher focus on the class and the lesson. They rather talk about scandals and love interests than review for tomorrow's test/quiz with the class.

Overall Experience   2013-07-01
The experience was definitely worthwhile and the school taught me a lot about myself and other people.

Student Culture & Diversity   2013-03-01
Elmont is very diverse both in ethnicity and sexual preference. The students are free to be and express them selves anyhow they want. Of course, like in all schools, not all are accepted but most are comfortable within themselves.

Student Culture & Diversity   2013-11-01
there are different social groups but not major ones

Teachers   2016-04-01
I feel that overall most of the teachers at Elmont Memorial High Scool care for their students but there are the select few that dont really seam to care for children. From past experience, most of my teachers have been trustworthy and good people to talk to.

Teachers   2016-04-01
Some teachers do more than others. Those are the ones that seem to care more.

Teachers   2015-12-01
Teachers at Elmont Memorial High School is different in many ways. Some Teachers are strict with there lesson and grade and others are more relate-able to the students which can make a class learn better or distract the class from the lesson. My overall opinion is that the teachers are well rounded and care for the students

Teachers   2015-04-01
Some teachers are not so great, Ms. GT, Ms. Whyte, ms. Flannory Mr. Kohn, Dr. Ramarak. While others are FANTASTIC. Mr. squillace, mr. Spinnato, ms. Lupuzzo, Mrs. Gilliam.

Teachers   2014-02-01
Teachers try their best to be accessable to all students and provide extra help.

Teachers   2014-03-01
They did their jobs and helped and guided students that they were closer to

Teachers   2013-11-01
Some teachers styles are more effective that others

Teachers   2013-09-01
many teachers will have review classes or will meet with you during their free periods, but some really don't care

Academics   2014-04-01
This school challenges me even though I get good grades. People might think my classes are easy but they're not, I work really hard to get my grades. Most of the teachers care. We need 6 classes plus gym for senior year but I wish students who have more credits than they need could be exempt from this policy. They should at least have 2 hard/challenging classes and whatever extra classes they're interested in. Senior year should be light we shouldn't have a lot of classes.

Academics   2014-02-01
Academics offered at this school range from various fields that allow students to take classes in what they are interested in.

Academics   2014-02-01
Most of the work will be understandable

Academics   2013-11-01
98% of students graduate from EMHS.

Academics   2013-11-01
There are multiple reviews held daily because of the size of the student body from 7th to 12th. There is also peep tutoring where a big brother of big sister ( club) can tutor the young students

Academics   2013-11-01
the academics are good. some classes are harder than others

Academics   2016-05-01
I don't know what the common core is like since my grade was the last year for the regular teaching. I would say that most of the classes i wanted to take I could take. The guidance was there when needed

Academics   2013-04-01
Certain teachers stand out more than others based on their teaching skills. Curriculum is different for every teacher. Workload is light for regular students heavy for advanced students. Special study options are available.

Academics   2013-03-01
There is extra help, clubs, sports ext.

Educational Outcomes   2014-10-01
I had to make the adjustment from a predominate minority community in high school to a predominate white community in college.

Educational Outcomes   2014-08-01
There are many improvements that needed to be taken care of but for the most part Elmont did the job.

Educational Outcomes   2014-03-01
Most students go on to attend good colleges

Educational Outcomes   2013-03-01
The staff will work with you hand and hand to help you succeed but at the end of it it's up to the student when it comes to how much hard work and dedication they put into their work.

Teachers   2013-11-01
It varies from teacher to teacher, but overall they are there for their students.

Overall Experience   2013-04-01
I've been attending this school for a year and a half now, and i feel that this school is okay. The teachers are very welcoming and there always there to help. However, the students can be pretty mean to each other and they may disrespect the teacher. There are plenty of clubs and extra help sessions, if you want to improve in a specific class. There's just always something going on here, and It's not a good thing. There;s always fights and the cops have to come.
